I am off to learn from children what I sometimes fail to remember as an adult. Peace, and have an amazing weekend! ~ Camilla Ross
Welcome to the Summer of 2013 – King of Beasts: Aesop’s Fables, written and directed by Bob Gautreau.
This summer we have some amazing children working with us. A lot of new ones and a few seasoned one’s. The processed is a well organized machine this summer - We have a great director, Producer, Stage Manager, Set Designers, Lighting Designer, Amazing Volunteers, Costumes are complete just putting the finishing touches on a musical that is both funny and has a message. Just my kind of show!
We have taken on children in this program and have allowed them to focus on what their needs are. It’s not easy in a world where no one listens to them. They are included in the process entirely from beginning to end. They are the program!
Our job as summer staff is to focus on the needs of each and every child, adult and volunteer. We are a family of people who actually really enjoy what we do.
I am deeply grateful for the amazing weeks we have been given thus far. The process has been a labor of love and understanding.
For the first time I have felt like I could leave a project to itself and watch it take on a new direction of it’s own. I am gently guiding those who are in charge of the summer program so that they learn to lead with a sense of love, compassion and understanding for each and every child in the program.
I have been facebook-ing these final days for the children. See posting in my thoughts of the week post
We are always looking for new people to add to the family of fun!
Each year we choose and original play to produce with our kids during the summer Youth Theater.
Thank you for all things well!
Thoughts of my week
I have taken to filling out my life with people I love. For me it’s not an option.
I welcome my Saturday with many thoughts. Conversations I have had with friends. New and old. Evaluation is necessary for my inner growth. What did I learn while listening to them? Was I present? Pre-occupied? Journal time and Blog time!
Just getting in from visiting my mom. Just love her so much! I hope I have the grace, wisdom and strength she has when get her age. She’s just adorable! Today she says…I won $35 on bingo! I am thinking.. Really mom.. Bingo! Then I realized she was talking about a lottery tickets. LOL love you mom!
This is day four of my story. Yesterday was an amazing day. I spoke to the children about producing theater. Clear and Concise…It’s a lot of work, but it’s the best work. Making a production happen from beginning to end is a process of love for me. Finding the right people to do the right job. I believe I have found the right children to perform in this production. They are talented beyond measure. Kendra Blomstedt voice is stunning! Rollins Plays the Lioness, and boy does she rule! Christian Marshall came on board and is fierce in the role of Mercury. This is a privilege and honor for me to be working with these Children and Teens. I look forward to seeing them succeed and lead in the world. They are our future, and what bright future it’s going to be.
This is day three of my story. Today these children blossomed into true performers. Their voices are like angels. If you could only image listening to them with your eyes closed. I am so excited for these children. Today the children went to downtown Mystic on a field trip and started singing for the people. What a treat! Emerson Theater Collaborative seeks to continue to serve our youth and provide them with the life skills to dream and succeed. The Show is amazing! We open on July 26th, 2013. Please come and see them.
This is day two of my story. I am finding moments that I remember and ones that I could never forget because I am living them now and in the moment. The kids in this Musical are reminding me of my youth. The innocent of being free to dream.
So I will begin to write this story not knowing its ending but trusting all the moments in between- Camilla Ross
I have found that space where the quiet opens the passage to clear thoughts. – Camilla Ross
It’s time to sign of for the day…. Peace be unto you my friends
Today is just a beautiful day.
As we celebrate Independence Day…. remember… To be free is to be alive. To allow the erosion of your freedom is to die. Lets keep this country a Freedom country. Stand up to injustice in your neighborhoods, cities, towns, states, and your government. Be safe and celebrate the blessing.
